Nadal poured it on in , winning the French Open again, in addition to winning Wimbledon — where he beat rival Roger Federer in the longest final in Wimbledon history — as well as taking home the gold medal at the Beijing Olympics. After Wimbledon, Nadal's winning streak stood at a career-best 32 matches.

He gained some revenge by defeating the Serbian star at Roland Garros the following spring to claim a record seventh French Open singles crown.
However, Nadal followed with a surprising second-round loss to Czech player Lukas Rosol at Wimbledon, a match some commentators labeled as one of the biggest upsets in tennis history. Afterward, Nadal announced he was withdrawing from the Summer Olympics due to knee tendinitis, an injury that knocked him out of action for several months.
But here we are today, and that's really fantastic and incredible. Later that month at Wimbledon, Nadal lost in straight sets in the first round to Belgium's Steve Darcis. It was a shock to tennis fans who expected a strong performance from the Spanish player, leading to speculation about the state of his health and overall game. But Nadal was back on the upswing by the U. Open, where he defeated Djokovic to win his second championship at the tournament.
The win helped propel Nadal back to the top spot in the world that October. It was his 14th Grand Slam title, tying him with Pete Sampras for second all-time behind the 17 won by Federer. He then suffered a stunning quarterfinal loss to Djokovic at the French Open, his first defeat at the tournament since and just the second overall of his career. Except playing tennis, what is he doing?
So sorry not to see more photos on the site. I have watched videos on him playing with teenagers and making challenges.
When you look at Rafa, it seems so easy. I wish I could be a good tennis player and have a private lesson with him. Hope to have news soon. I have heard that Rafael is not going to play US Open this year. I hope that everything is OK for him. Do you know what is his favourite dishes? If he likes French cuisine? Is he coming soon to France? The seating will be spaced out more than usual. However, atp Paris-Bercy in Nov is not on his schedule this year, even before the Covid scare.
Fiona in Paris. Hope that Rafa is doing well. Does he have a problem? Why has he not played for such a long time? Even if he does not play, I keep on admiring him for his personality and kindness. I hope I can meet El guapo soon. A big fan. The Montreal WTA portion of the event is off as the Quebec government has extended the ban on public gatherings until the end of August. Ontario has not made such a declaration. It is likely though that Toronto will end up cancelling as well.
Both our provincial and federal governments are heeding the advice of medical experts and being cautious especially in regard to having non essential events like sports resume. I wonder today if he is going to play in indian wells and miami.
Maybe he has to play only one of them, lets say miami to conserve his body for the clay season. As for losing to Djokovich and Federer in his last games y think Caros Moya should have the answer. He has to study the games that Rafa lost. In Australia the lost to Thiem was close, but Rafa was not at his best. Hi Nadal keep patience If Djokovic can be defeated by other then why not by u.
This is an advantage he got from past result so keep calm while playing him and analysed the matches u lost to him before resist him. Bit like his team Real Madrid!
Nadal and his team should focus on scheduling. He is not young anymore and should choose which tournaments to compete in. He has to avoid getting injured as much as possible. He has been choking in his recent matches and it is not a good sign. Nadal and his team must fix it as soon as possible , or else he will never win against Djokovic or Federer anymore , let alone being consider the GOAT.
Against roger and djoko he only wins on clay Last year on clay also he lost to fognini Tsisitpas and many more. Rafa, I hope that by now, you have diligently studied your last losses to Thiem and Djoko with Carlos Montoya and are adapting your game as you should. Also, please include the spiritual dimension in your program.
And battles are won by the Soul. Rafa, if you are listening.. There is no doubt that Djokovic plays significantly better than Nadal. It is not that Nadal cannot play better than Djokovic; I believe Nadal can be a much better player since he has proven that he can improve a great deal. There are only three reasons why Nadal is losing. First, Nadal is too slow answering and this continuous being a mistake although it has been improved thanks to Carlos.
Secondly, Nadal often takes too long attacking and this is also a mistake borrowed from his uncle Tony. Unless Nadal does not solve these three weakness, quickness, readiness attacking, and organization in his supporting team, he will continue be losing to Djokovic and also, working too hard with other tennis players, For example, his uncle should be fired from his team since Tony may only have good wishes to Nadal but he is not a technical tennis coach, as well as other members.
Yeah he is too defensive and people are well aware of that. This defensive style wont work against players like roger joker fognini lost to fognini last year on clay coz these are the fast hitting players with aggression Also against domnic this year ao
